Every year Texas Frightmare (one of our favorite conventions of the year) brings a great schedule of film screenings to go along with their incredible guests and vendor at the Southwest’s biggest horror convention. This year’s lineup is no different. This year includes three world premieres, which is very exciting, as well as films brought to the convention by Arrow, Funimation, Severin Films, Millman Productions and Unearthed Films.

WORLD PREMIERES

The Toybox

An estranged family take a trip to the desert in their used RV but become stranded and isolated in the scorching terrain. They soon learn their RV holds terrible, haunting secrets and it starts killing them off one by one. You read that correctly.

Ouija House

To help her down-on-her-luck mother, a graduate student brings her friends to a mysterious house where they plan to do research for a book project. But they inadvertently summon an evil entity with plans of its own. Starring Tara Reid, Dee Wallace and Mischa Barton. Brandon is going to watch this, just because he is an O.C. diehard.

Death Kiss

A vigilante with a mysterious past tries to rid a city of crime as he protects a young mother and her child. Starring Robert Kovacs, Daniel Baldwin, Eva Hamilton, Stormi Maya, Leia Perez.

In other film news, Funimation is bringing As the Gods Will, a rarely seen film by Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer, Gozu). This is something horror fans will not want to miss, especially due to its scarcity in the States.

Film attendees will also have the chance to check out Shocking Dark, a film by the people that brought us Troll 2. Yes, that’s right, Troll 2. Severin will also be bringing Zombie 4 and Brandon will be bringing his Best Worst Movie Poster to get signed.

Other film screenings include Stirring, a retro slasher, Borely Rectory, an animated documentary, The Song of Solomon, Deviant Behavior and a feature length documentary, The Mothman of Point Pleasant. The last film announced is the rarely seen, Dallas-made, 1985 horror anthology Tabloid. Tabloid features 3 stories inspired by paranormal headlines, including one featuring a yet-to-be-discovered Lisa Loeb.

Short films include some interesting-sounding titles, including The Bloody Ballad of Squirt Reynolds, Third Wheel, We Summoned a Demon, BEC: Black Eyed Child, Birthday, Your Appraisal and Spooksbury.

And, as always, all films screened at Texas Frightmare Weekend are free to passholders. So check the full list for yourself, make some holes in your schedule and be sure to check out some of these films … when you not meeting six different Jason Voorhees actors.
