Last week I had the pleasure of once again driving down to Austin to check out Mondo Gallery’s latest show The Art of Laurent Durieux, Part Two.
After our initial recap post, I noticed that the preview images we shared for the article just didn’t quite capture what makes Durieux’s work so impressive. At first glance, sure, they are all really great works of art … but when you are standing in front of one of his 24×36 prints, you can see all of the immaculate detail and illustration work going on in his work. It’s precise and clean and there is a reason why his prints are highly sought after.
When I got home, I was able to examine my purchases even closer (and for even a longer amount of time). I’m truly blown away and wanted to share some of the detail shots, as well as some close-ups of some pencil sketch comps of his work. Even through glass, the vibrant colors and detail in his art is astonishing. Hopefully, it will make you understand just a little bit more why people waited multiple nights in line outside the gallery (through cold weather and rain) to not miss a chance to own some awesome art.
